Description: Sri Vallabhacharya Mahaprabhuji (1479-1531) was born in Kankarwad village in Champaran near Raipur in Chhattisgarh. Also known as Vallabh Mahaprabhuji and Vallabh Acharya, the name Vallabh means beloved or lover, a name of Vishnu or Krishna. He is considered to be an incarnation of Lord Krishna, a saint and philosopher who founded Krishna-centred Pushtimarg, Vaishnavism, and pure Advaita Vedanta philosophy in Braj. Vallabhacharya was initiated by various gurus and received extensive education in Vedic scriptures, poetry, and literature. He travelled throughout India for 20 years, becoming one of the important saints of the Bhakti movement. Rejecting a life of asceticism, he advocated loving devotion to Lord Krishna as a path to salvation, God's grace, and service to God.
This view became influential throughout India and is now known as Vallabha Sampradaya or Pushtimarg Sampradaya. He is considered the Jagadguru Acharya of the entire Sanatan Hindu religion and the founder of the Pushtimarg Vallabha Sampradaya Bhakti tradition and Shuddhadvaita Brahmavada. His writings and kirtan compositions focused on the childhood pranks of infant Krishna, the motherly love of Yashoda, and the protection of young Krishna by divine grace. His legacy has been preserved by his descendants and disciples, with important Krishna shrines at Nathdwara and the Dwarkadhish temple. Inspired by God, he reached Gokul in Braj and established his throne on the Govardhan mountain, where he built a magnificent temple of Shrinathji with the help of his disciples.
