Description: Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) is a premier state agricultural university located in Coimbatore. Its origins date back to 1868, when an agricultural school was established at Chennai (then Madras), which was later shifted to Coimbatore in 1906. In 1920, the institution became affiliated with the University of Madras. Over the years, it expanded its academic and research activities, and in 1958 it was recognised as a postgraduate centre, beginning to offer master’s and doctoral programs. In 1971, the institution was formally established as Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, taking on full responsibility for agricultural education and research in the state. It also plays a crucial role in supporting the State Agriculture Department by disseminating research findings and innovative farming practices. 

TNAU offers a wide range of undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs across diverse agricultural disciplines. These include agricultural science, horticulture, forestry, agricultural engineering, biotechnology, food technology, and agribusiness management, among others. The university is known for its strong emphasis on both theoretical knowledge and practical training.
