Description: Madhur Temple is 8 km away from Kasargod in Kerala. Its unique circular shape gives it a unique charm. This temple is the Lord Ananteshwara Vinayaka Temple, it seems that Lord Ganapati is enthroned in it, but this temple was originally dedicated to Ananteshwara, a form of Lord Shiva, known as Madanantheswara Temple. It is said that the self-manifested Shivalinga installed here was discovered by an old woman, and the idol of Ganapati was made on the walls of the sanctum by the young son of a Brahmin priest while playing. Day by day it grew bigger and fatter; so the boy called Ganapati "Boddajja" or "Bodda Ganesha". The history of this temple is that it was built in the 10th century by the Mayapadhi rulers of Kumbla and was later renovated to its present form in the 15th century.
This magnificent temple attracts not only devotees but also connoisseurs of architecture, who find the blend of Hindu and Jain architectural styles fascinating. The temple has a three-tiered dome, of which the upper two floors have a copper plate roof and the lower floor has a tile roof. The intricately carved wooden pillars and beams inside the temple complex speak of the artistry of the artisans of that era. The walls and ceilings of the temple are adorned with stucco images depicting scenes from Indian mythology. The Namaskar mandapam is adorned with wooden carvings depicting scenes from the Ramayana. There is a deep well inside the temple complex. Its water, which is untouched by the rays of the sun, is believed to have many medicinal properties.
