Description: Kadalundi Bird Sanctuary is about 20 km from Kozhikode, Kerala. Spread across a group of islands, this sanctuary is said to be home to more than 100 native birds and more than 60 migratory bird species. It also has mangrove vegetation which is said to be a haven for otters and jackals. It is also known for a wide variety of fish, mussels and crabs. Migratory birds that live here include seagulls, terns, sandpipers, sandplovers, red and greenshanks, turnstones, etc. Spread across a group of islands, this sanctuary is said to be the area where the Kadalundi River meets the Arabian Sea, the place is surrounded by hills. These hills create a beautiful environment and also offer a spectacular view of the sanctuary, river mouth and the sea.
