Description: Indian Space Research Organisation's U R Rao Satellite Centre (URSC), Bengaluru, formerly known as ISRO Satellite Centre (ISAC), is the leading centre for manufacturing satellites and the development of related satellite technologies. Its mission is to advance space research for national development. To develop satellites for earth observation, communication, navigation, meteorology, defence science, To develop launch vehicles and technologies for national development and security, To design and implement new space transportation systems for societal development, To play a leading role in the global space market, focusing on earth observation, navigation systems, space science, launch vehicles (PSLV, GSLV, SSLV) space technology for national development, security and societal benefit. 

URSC is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities for manufacturing satellites on an end-to-end basis. ISRO Satellite Integration and Test Establishment (ISITE) is equipped with state-of-the-art clean room facilities for spacecraft integration and test facilities, which include a 6.5 m thermo vacuum chamber, 29 ton vibration facility, compact antenna test facility and acoustic test facility under one roof. Assembly, integration and testing of all communication and navigation spacecraft is carried out at ISITE. A dedicated facility for the production of standardised sub-systems has been set up at ISITE. URSC has a unit called Laboratory for Electro Optics Systems (LEOS), located at Peenya, Bengaluru and is primarily responsible for research, development and production of sensors for ISRO programmes. Since its inception, URSC has the distinction of having manufactured more than 100 satellites for various applications such as scientific, communication, navigation and remote sensing. Many private and public sector industries are also supporting ISSC in realising standard satellite hardware.
