The five stamps being issued on the 16th October, 1967 form part of the fourth definitive series. This series will have a total of seventeen stamps in the denominations of 2 P, 3 P, 5 P, 6 P, 10 P, 15 P, 20 P, 30 P, 40 P, 50 P, 60 P, 70 P, Re. 1, Rs. 2, Rs. 5, Rs. 10 and Rs. 15.
A stamp in the denomination of 8 paise in this series depicting the 'Chital' was also brought out on 15-3-67 but its further printing has been discontinued due to revision in the postage rates with effect from 1-8-67. The themes of the five stamps to be released on the 16th October, 1967 cover different subjects. The 2 paise stamp shows 'Bidriware'; the 3 paise stamp 'Brassware'; the 5 paise stamp has Family Planning as its theme (a couple with two children and the triangle denoting the symbol of Family Planning); the 20 paise stamp shows a 'Gnat' plane and the 60 paise stamp the Somnath Temple' of Gujarat.
The remaining 2 stamps in the denominations of 40 paise and Rs. 15 to complete this series will be issued on a date to be announced later.
